The Blood of our Fathers

bloodoffatherscoverimage

In The Blood of our Fathers, I take a look at the warrior cultures and the values they held and try to see if there is a way in which the modern man can use the traditional ethics and values in our modern time. With everything masculine under constant assault and males being assumed guilty of innumerable crimes with the only evidence presenting being gender, it is no wonder our society is as screwed up as it is. But what if everything you are being told about being a male is a lie? What if masculinity has a rich and glorious history and the role of the male in modern society can still be enhanced by the ethics of the warrior cultures and the writings of some major badasses? In this book, we take a look at that question and wonder if there is something good to be found in all of that toxicity. Join us as we immerse ourselves in toxic masculinity and rediscover the strength and power that the awake and aware male offers to his family and the world. Men have always been the protectors and the providers, and we can still be so today, and we can do it in a way that leaves those who try to claim that we are guilty of all of the wrongs in the world without a logical or moral leg to stand on.

Every single day across this country people are taught ways to save their life from the bad guy, only to end up in jail for assault if their training works as advertised. They are taught to gamble their life and freedom on what they are told is fact. Self-defense is not like high stakes gambling, it is the highest stakes gambling. If you are going to gamble – do it right. To do it right you need to know how the game is played, what the rules are, and you really need to understand the odds. That is where this book comes in. All too often, martial artists surrender their intellectual freedom and opt instead to accept without thinking the strange and unbelievable claims made by so-called masters and experts in the martial arts. In this book I take a close look at the claims and ask questions about the basis for such acceptance. Some of the claims are harmless, but some can get you killed if you follow them, and so questions need to be asked. Often, asking questions on the subjects can be compared to slapping a dragon, in that the questions are usually unwelcome by a lot of instructors. But I believe that there are times when Slapping Dragons is exactly what we need to do. This book contains expanded articles comprised from the best of this website as well as new material.
